The Client's Vision

Our clients, a young family in Malibu, wanted to reimagine their courtyard as the heart of their home—a place where they could gather with friends and family as the sun sets over the Pacific. They envisioned something warm, organic, and distinctly modern.

Design Inspiration

Inspired by the natural erosion patterns of coastal rock formations and the minimalist aesthetic of Japanese fire bowls, we set out to create a piece that felt both ancient and contemporary. The challenge was balancing sculptural form with function—creating a fire feature that was as beautiful unlit as it was mesmerizing in flame.

Photo Gallery

Every detail tells a story of craftsmanship. Every surface reflects intention and care. Every piece is designed to live beautifully over time.

Space Challenges

The courtyard was compact but sun-drenched, with existing hardscaping that needed to remain intact. We had to design a feature that commanded attention without overwhelming the space, and one that could withstand coastal weather and the intense UV exposure typical of Southern California

The Result

The finished piece became an instant focal point. Handcrafted from high-performance concrete with a custom organic texture, the fire feature integrates seamlessly into the existing landscape while adding a sculptural presence. It's become the family's favorite gathering spot—used nearly every evening, regardless of the season.
